Kathleen A. (Murphy) Murphy, 67, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died at home on Wednesday April 23 surrounded by her family after battling cancer for many years. She was the wife of James J. Murphy. Born in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School and was Vice President of the Class of 1959. She was also a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1965. Mrs. Murphy was a school teacher in Brockton for 26 years, teaching at the Gilmore, Arnone and Hancock Elementary schools until her retirement in 2002. She also taught CCD at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton for many years. In her free time she enjoyed reading and traveling. She loved spending summers in Pocasset for over 40 years and winters in Marco Island, FL in recent years.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her children, James J. "Jay" Murphy and his wife Krisanne of Washington, DC, Brian J. Murphy and his wife Martha of London, England and Kathleen M. "Katie" O'Brien and her husband Keiron of S. Boston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and J.J. Murphy and Grace O'Brien; her sister, Mary L. Berardi and her husband Joseph of Canton; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Tormey of Danvers and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan E. Tormey.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, April 28 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 PM. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Brockton. Donations in Kathy's memory may be sent to Partners Hospice, 281 Winter St., Suite 200, Waltham, MA 02451.
