Kathleen (Locke) Miller Portway

Kathleen (Locke) Miller Portway, 75, a longtime resident of North Attleboro, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, March 31, 2023.  She was the wife of David E. Portway for 22 years.  Daughter of the late Daniel A. and Patricia A. (Keefe) Locke, she was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton.  Kathleen was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1965.  She resided in North Attleboro for the past 27 years.  She worked at Red Wing Diner in Walpole for 40 years before retiring in 2017.  She was known for her creativity and sewing skills and she handmade clothes for her children and costumes for her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and arts and crafts.

Kathleen was the mother of Nicole Barry and her husband Ted of Dighton, Stacey Hughes of North Attleboro, Glenn Lyerla, III and his husband Daniel Ryan of Providence, RI, Ariel Nardone and her husband John of North Attleboro and the late Kathryn Lyerla and Joseph Miller.  She was the grandmother of Cpt. Nicolas Barry, US Army, Cassidy Sousa, Jillian Barry, Madison Hughes, Amanda Hughes, Mya Miller, Kalel Miller, Lucas Nardone and Jaxson Nardone and great-grandmother of Wyatt Barry, Lylah Barry and Tessa Sousa.  She was the sister of Daniel Locke of Brockton, Maryanne Lyerla of Middleboro, William Locke of Brockton, Julie Phipps of Dartmouth and the late Justin Locke and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, April 5 at 7 PM.  Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen‘s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
