Juvenal R. Andrade, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Goddard in Stoughton on Monday, August 27. He was the husband of Carlota L. (DePina) Andrade. Born and raised in Cape Verde, he settled in Dorchester in 1960 before moving to Stoughton in 1992. Mr. Andrade attended college in Cape Verde and also served in the military there. He was a welder for Woolworth Co. in Braintree for 22 years before retiring in 1982. He was well known for playing mancala and was an accomplished player. He also enjoyed playing Bisca, working in his vegetable garden, singing and driving to Boston to visit family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Fatima of Trinidad, Theodora Texeira of FL, Carlos Andrade, Antonio Andrade and Carmen Hardaway all of Boston, Nena Andrade-Karama of Braintree and Fatima Oliveira of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Ernestina Carvalho of Boston and was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Friday, August 31, at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 30 from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Juvenal's memory may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 10 Magazine St., Roxbury, MA 02119-2797.
