June Fredericksen

June (Swede) Fredericksen, 85, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 64 years of Lt. Walter A. Fredericksen, Mass. State Police (Ret.). Born and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of the Jeremiah Burke High School. She also attended hairdressing school. Mrs. Fredericksen was a resident of Stoughton for many years, before moving to Mansfield 3 years ago. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker to her family. An avid traveler, she took numerous cruises with her husband and enjoyed traveling the world. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Stoughton and was involved with the Icebreakers and with several women's groups within the church. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and the Swimmin' Women. An accomplished hairdresser, in her free time, she enjoyed crafts, ceramics, cooking, movies, reading and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Karen L. Blackwelder and her husband Mark of FL, Col. Dr. Gary W. Fredericksen (USAF Ret.) and his wife Terri of VA, Diane M. Cidado and her husband Cid of Easton and Peter J. Fredericksen and his wife Ann Marie of West Bridgewater. She was the sister of the late Robert Swede and is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held in the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in June's memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
