Julie A. Sears Gillis, 50, died Friday, March 18, 2022 at her home, unexpectedly and after a long period of health struggles. Born in Stoughton, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1990. She also attended Boston College and Massasoit Community College. Julie worked as the Aquatics Director and as a Swim Teacher for the YMCA in Stoughton for many years. She also worked for the Stoughton Recreation Department, teaching Swimming at Ames Long Pond for several years. She enjoyed crafts, making soap and fleece blankets and also enjoyed volunteering for the Stoughton Girl Scouts. Julie was a dedicated Boston Sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family, nieces and nephews, friends and her boyfriend Jim.
Julie was the daughter of Helen T. (Tintle) Sears of Stoughton and the late David P. Sears and the longtime companion of James Kahler of Stoughton. She was the sister of Carol-Lynne Papa and her husband Michael of Gardner, Sharon M. McNamara and her husband Matthew of RI and Jennifer A. Sears and her husband Nidal Khudair of Stoughton. She was the aunt of Caitlin Kelley and her husband Ryan, Nicholas Papa and his wife Ari, and Marguerite and Bridgit McNamara. She was the great aunt of Piper and Riley Kelley and is also survived by her cat Mookie.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 10:30 AM.
