Julie A. (Churchill) Hardy, 78, a resident of Chatham, died at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis on Thursday, December 29, 2016. She was the wife of 61 years of Richard E. Hardy. Daughter of the late Charles Churchill and Margaret Howard, she was born and raised in Cambridge. Julie attended Wellesley Academy of Assumption. She resided in Chatham for the past 2 months after living in Ormond Beach, FL for 26 years and Somerville for 52 years. Julie was a systems analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 18 years before retiring in 1988. She was a former Chapter Chairperson for the Retarded Association of Somerville. She enjoyed crafts and traveling, especially to Aruba.
In addition to her huband, Julie is survived by her children, Richard E. Hardy, Jr. and his wife Janet of Oakham, Cynthia L. Coelho and her husband Daniel of Ayer, Robert M. Hardy and his wife Robin of Eastham, Raymond C. Hardy of Somerville, Barbara J. Aveni and her husband John of Stoughton and Ronald D. Hardy of Dorchester. She was the sister of the late Daniel Howard. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, January 3 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will be private. Donations in Julie's memory may be made to the Walnut Street Center, 35 Charlestown St., Somerville, MA 02143.
