Josephine (LaCivita) Whelan died Tuesday, September 25 at Harborside Healthcare in Falmouth surrounded by family and friends. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Whelan. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School and business school. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton before moving to Falmouth in 2001. Mrs. Whelan was a secretary for Kiddie Products in Avon and Quality Steel in Stoughton for many years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Stoughton Women's Club and Daughters of Italy. She enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her grandsons.
Mrs. Whelan is survived by her children, Patricia W. Mahoney and her husband Brian of NJ and Priscilla Whelan Carignan and her husband David of Falmouth as well as her grandsons, Whelan Joseph Mahoney and his wife Kristin, Kyle William Mahoney, Geoffrey Whelan Carignan and Thomas Whelan Carignan, her great-granddaughter, Lucy Louise Mahoney and her sister, Mary A. LaCivita of Stoughton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony LaCivita. She is also survived by her sister in law, Patricia LaCivita of Taunton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, September 29 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM.
