Joseph Registre, 92, a resident of Jamaica Plain, died at Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston on Wednesday, May 29. He was the beloved husband of Mary T. (Fevrier) Registre. Born and raised in Haiti, he came to the U.S. in 1977 and settled in Mattapan for over 20 years before moving to Jamaica Plain several years ago. Mr. Registre was a shoe maker, working at Fenton Shoes in Cambridge for 9 years before retiring at age 62. He was also a house painter. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball and was a fan of the Boston Celtics. He also loved going to church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Registre was the loving father of Bernedette Veillard of Canada, Renette Calvin of Hyde Park, Renel Registre and Mary Josette Josaphat both of Randolph, Lamercie Tessier and Johnson Registre both of RI, Romane Registre and Emiline Joseph both of Roslindale and Jean C. Registre of Brighton. He was the brother of Eliza Regis of Holbrook and the late Ersula Bernier, Marie Anne Neptune, Lemoine Leveille and Letive Leveille. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Temple Salem SDA, 222 Woodrow Ave., Mattapan on Friday, June 7 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held at the church prior to the service from 9-10 AM. Interment will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Roslindale. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.
