Joseph F. "Lefty" Morrissette, 87, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton. He was the husband of Shirley E. (Bissonnette) Morrissette. Born in Norwich, CT he was educated in Norwich and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Morrissette was a resident of Norwich, CT for many years prior to moving to Stoughton past 6 years ago. He worked as a Supervisor for Dow Chemical Company in Gales Ferry, CT for over 25 years, retiring over 20 years ago. A gifted handyman, Mr. Morrissette enjoyed traveling, specifically driving road trips and was proud that he drove to all of the 48 contiguous United States. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in CT.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ashley L. Morrissette of WV, Shirlee L. Laskarzewski of CT, James J. of NY and Giselle M. "Gigi" Cox of Brockton. He was the brother of the late Angeline Morrissette. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St. Stoughton, on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton prior to the mass from 9-10 AM. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Norwich, CT.
