Joseph MacNeil

Joseph MacNeil, 69, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Monday, October 3 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of 50 years of Carol A. (Fisher) MacNeil. Born in Inverside Inverness, Nova Scotia, Canada, he was educated there before graduating from Boston English High School, Class of 1958. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1974. Mr. MacNeil was an office manager at Casey & Hayes in Boston for 23 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed trips to Castle Island, watching TV and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Mr. MacNeil is survived by his children, Joseph L. MacNeil of AL, N. Brian MacNeil and Doreen Shockley and her husband Gerard all of Stoughton and Christine Travers and her husband Wayne of Taunton. He was the grandfather of Steven, Mark, Autumn Rae, Dylan, Brent and Courtney MacNeil, Cassandra and Brianna Shockley and Brittany and Corey Travers. He was the brother of John J. Kelly of Hyde Park, Patrick and Stanley Kelly both of Avon, Michael Kelly of W. Roxbury, James Kelly, Flora Scanlan, Julia Kuhn and Gail Faria all of Stoughton, Daniel Kelly of Norwood, Margaret Mitchell of NM and the late Catherine Lee and Bridget Kelly. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Wednesday, October 5 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. Donations in Joseph's memory may be sent to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
