Joseph E. Lothrop, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at his home, after a period of failing health. He was the Beloved Husband of 51 years of Janet M. (Sweeney) Lothrop. Born and raised in Roxbury, he was a graduate of Boston Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Lothrop was a resident of Stoughton for over 49 years. He worked for the United States Postal Sevice in Milton as a Letter Carrier for many years, retiring several years ago. Mr. Lothrop was a member of the Letter Carriers Union. He was a voracious reader and a history buff who loved music, his dogs and a good cup of coffee. An accomplished handyman, he loved working around his house and yard. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor and his love for his friends, family and his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Michelle M. Lothrop of Weymouth, Joseph E. Lothrop Jr. and his girlfriend Jacqueline Clifford of Foxboro and Victoria R. Lothrop-Brien and her husband William Brien of Watertown. He was the Cherished Grandfather of Olivia, Emma and Samuel Corcoran, Joseph and Mason Lothrop and Rose and William Brien. He was the brother of Sally Pacios of Pembroke and the late Clarice Prime, June Hunnefeld, Sylvia Pacios, Esther Pitrone, Roy Lothrop, Dorothy Harrington and Rose Lothrop. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
