Joseph "Paul" Joyal, 85, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 43 years of Gladys M. (McMahon) Joyal. Born in Gilman, VT, he was raised and educated in Gilman until age 14 when he moved to Watertown, MA. He attended St. Patrick's High School in Watertown. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served for over 20 years before his retirement. While in the Air Force, he served time in Korea during the Korean War and also did two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon his retirement, he took a job with the United States Post Office in Stoughton and spent over 20 years of dedicated service as a Postal Clerk before retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Postal Workers Union. Paul was a fan of the Red Sox and Bruins and enjoyed reading the newspaper, fishing and bowling. He was the family "fudge and applesauce maker" for all family gatherings. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his children; Christopher P. Joyal of California, Peter P. Koepfer and his wife Kristin of N. Dighton, Mark H. Koepfer of Taunton and Michael D. Joyal of Raynham. He was the brother of Marie Beaudoin of Bourne, Anita Collins of Rockland, Alfred Joyal of Florida and the late Albert Joyal and Rita O'Leary. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, October 12 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
