Josefina L. (Freitas) Fortuna

Josefina L. (Freitas) Fortuna, 97, a resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was the wife of the late Joaquim M. Fortuna, Jr. Daughter of the late Antonio P. and Maria Emelia Freitas, she was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 15 years after living in California for several years. Josefina was a homemaker. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She enjoyed gardening and cooking but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Josefina was the mother of Viriato F. Fortuna and his wife Elmira of Flores, Maria F. Fernandes of Stoughton, Antonio F. Fortuna and his wife Norma of California and the late Elmira F. Camara and Jose H.F. Fortuna. She was the sister of Roberto Freitas of California and Jose P. Freitas of Canada. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Friday, March 15 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
