Jose E. "Ernesto" Rego, 77, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, February 3. He was the husband of Conceicao P. (Paulo) Rego. Born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, he moved to Stoughton in 1971. Mr. Rego was a cook at Stoughton Diner for 17 years before retiring at age 62. He was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rego is survived by his son, Ernie P. Rego of Methuen. He was the brother of Maria Jose Reis of Portugal, Manuel Rego of Canada and the late Joao and Jose Antonio Rego.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, February 6 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
