Jose Pedro, 77, died Saturday, July 10, at his home under the care of Evercare Hospice after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Maria (Mendonca) Pedro. Born in Caveira, Flores, Portugal, he was raised and educated there. He came to the United States in 1963 and settled in Stoughton. Mr. Pedro worked as a Machine Operator for Corcoran Shoe in Stoughton for many years. He also worked at QualCraft. He retired at age 72. He was a member of Clube Luis de Camoes and the San Joao Filharmonic Society, the Holy Ghost Society at Club Luis de Camoes and the Holy Ghost of the Azores Society all of Stoughton and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed watching westerns, including Bonanza and traveling to the ocean, particularly Scituate Harbor. He also enjoyed eating seafood and fishing. His greatest love was for his family.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children, Maria M. Vasconcelos and her husband Joao, Isilda M. Pimentel and her husband Jose, Flora P. Semiao and her husband Jose, Adelina M. Pedro and Alfredo J. Pedro and his wife Aldina all of Stoughton and Isabel P. Silva and her companion Jim Simon of Hanover. He was the brother of Rosaria Camara and Flora Camara both of Stoughton, Nestor Pedro of Portugal and the late Carminda Salvador and Maria Freitas. He was the beloved Avo of Michael, Nicole, William, Melissa, Jacqueline, Joshua, Daniel and Meghan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, July 14 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Donations in Jose's memory may be made to Evercare Hospice, 950 Winter St., Waltham, MA 02451.
