Jose Texeria Sousa "JP," 54, died March 13, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of 25 years of Lenita L. Sousa. Mr. Sousa was born and raised on the island of São Jorge in the Azores. He came to the United States at age 22 and settled in Stoughton. He was a skilled self-employed tradesman working in flooring and tile. Mr. Sousa was a member of Club Luís de Camões and the São Joao Filarmonica Society, both in Stoughton. He enjoyed playing pool, and later, chess as a hobby. He had two loves -- his family and his music. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the trumpet, flute, and the saxophone. He was very proud of his family and loved to spend time with them whenever he could.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Brian L. Sousa and Miranda L. Sousa. Mr. Sousa was the son of Laura (Texeira) Soares of Portugal and was the brother of Bernadette Sousa and Angelo Soares both of Portugal. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Visiting Hours will be held Monday, March 19th from 4-7 PM at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton. Funeral will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday, March 20th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10AM.
