Jose Ferreira Garcia, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Monday, March 19, 2018, a day after his 86th birthday. He was the loving husband of Maria Laureana (Santos) Garcia for 58 years. Son of the late Joao Jose and Olivia DaGloria Garcia, he was born and raised in Caveira, Flores, Azores, Portugal before residing in Stoughton for over 60 years. Jose was a millman at Plymouth Rubber in Canton and also worked at Nocera's Restaurant in Stoughton. A true family man, he dedicated his life to his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, siblings and the lights of his life-his 2 granddaughters. He loved fishing and traveling back to Flores every year.
In addition to his wife, Jose is survived by his loving daughters, Olivia Garcia and her husband John of Stoughton and Fatima Garcia-Fedorowicz and her husband Frank of Canton, as well as his cherished granddaughters, Kayla Jane and Katerina Jane Fedorowicz. He was the brother of Mateus Garcia, David Garcia and Maria Santos all of Stoughton, Manuel Garcia of Fresno, CA, Olivia Garcia of Raynham and the late Joao and Francisco Garcia and Norberta Santos. He is also survived by many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Friday, March 23 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
