Jose I. Couto, 77, died at home in North Easton on Wednesday, August 20 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Rosa (Verdadeiro) Couto. Born and educated in Vila Franca, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Mr. Couto moved to the United States in 1967. He resided in Randolph for 15 years before moving to North Easton in 1994. He was a franchise owner of several Dunkin Donuts in the area for 33 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Couto is survived by his son, Jose M. Couto and his wife Maria and his daughter, Maria L. Zsambok and her husband William all of N. Easton, as well as his grandchildren, Lisa and Nicole Sardinha and Thomas and Rick Couto. He was the brother of Joao Couto of Woburn, Conceicao Coelho of Billerica, Carolina Furtado of Canada and the late Antonio Couto.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, August 23 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Jose's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
