Jose Noel Baeta

Jose Noel Baeta, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family just days before his 80th birthday. He was the husband of Maria A. (Avelar) Baeta for 57 years. Son of the late Francisco C. and Maria C. (Chaves) Baeta, he was born and raised in Fazenda, Santa Cruz, Flores in the Azores, Portugal. He settled in Stoughton in 1974. He worked for Cumberland Farms in Canton for over 20 years before working at Crescent Ridge Dairy in Sharon for 20 years. He officially retired in 2011 but continued to work until 2020. Noel was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and was a member of Clube Luis de Camoes and Sociedade Filarmonica São João both in Stoughton. He was also a supporter and member of the Holy Ghost of the Azores in Stoughton. He loved rooting on his favorite team, Benfica and wine making. He also enjoyed gardening, wood cutting and tending to his yard but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Noel is survived by his children, Joseph F. Baeta and his wife Michele of Stoughton and Maria F. Krim and her husband Thomas of Brockton as well as his grandchildren, Douglas Krim, Meaghan Krim and Margaret Baeta. He was the brother of Abel Baeta of Lisbon and the late Ismael Baeta and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 16 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 17 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Noel’s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
