Jose A. Almeida, 67, died Thursday, February 8, 2018, at his home in Brockton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mirtes J. (Moser) Almeida. Born, raised and educated in Madeira Island, Portugal, he moved to Lisbon, Portugal as a young man and spent several years in Lisbon. Mr. Almeida was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army and while in the Army, spent time in Angola. He was a resident of Angola for several years before moving to the United States in 1978, and settling in Stoughton. Mr. Almeida was a resident of Stoughton for over 20 years, before moving to Brockton over 10 years ago. He was the owner of KMP Towing in Stoughton for many years, retiring several years ago. After his retirement, he stayed active by sharing his talents and advice while assisting family and friends with many different projects. He was a skilled handyman who loved his work, enjoyed repairing cars and remodeling houses. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jose P. Almeida and his wife Cintia of Brockton, Michelle Hayes and her husband Matthew of Attleboro, Kevin S. Almeida and his longtime companion Eileen Lohan, Luis Miguel Almeida and Mariah Louise Almeida all of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Alexia H., Nathan R. and Noah S. Almeida. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Tuesday from 9-11AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Directions and obituary at www.farleyfh.com.
