John J. Sullivan

John J. Sullivan, 78, a longtime resident of Randolph, died unexpectedly at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, December 26. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Selig) Sullivan. Born in Roxbury, he was raised in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1953. He resided in Randolph since 1977. Mr. Sullivan served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Brockton for 35 years before retiring 15 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 200, VFW Post 1645, American Legion Post 89 and Amvets Post 1977 all in Stoughton. He was also a member of the Randolph Elks, the DAV and Club National in Brockton.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Sullivan is survived by his children, Maureen Sullivan of W. Bridgewater, John J. Sullivan of Weare, NH and Kevin C. Sullivan of Stoughton and his step-children, Lori Chisholm of Lakeville, Cindy Leif of Florida and Rebecca Leif of Maine. He was the brother of Helen Bogni of Wrentham, Marjorie Hickey of Amesbury, Virginia Riggs of Florida and the late Billy, Mary, Frannie and Josephine. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, December 31 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
