John P. Reddington, 84, died peacefully at Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton on Tuesday, March 18. He was the husband of 59 years of the late Mary F. (Burns) Reddington, who died February 25, 2008. Born in Chicago, IL, he was a graduate of Chicago schools and Northeastern University, Class of 1951. He was a resident of Stoughton since 1954. Mr. Reddington was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre. He worked in sales for Scripto Pen Co. and Taylor Instruments for many years before retirement. He was a very active communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 and a member of the VFW Post 1645 both in Stoughton. He was also a poll worker for many years.
Mr. Reddington is survived by his sons, Kevin J. Reddington and his wife Patricia of Boston and Gary F. Reddington and his wife Phyllis of West Bridgewater. He was the brother of Francis Reddington of Chicago, IL and the late Michael Reddington. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 21 at 9:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in John's memory may be made to Baypointe Nursing & Rehab. Ctr.
