John S. “Jack” Rapoza Jr., 81, died Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Taunton, he was raised and educated in Taunton and Raynham and was a graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton. He also attended Boston College. Jack was a Veteran of the US Navy and faithfully served in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge in May of 1967, he returned home and eventually began working at the VA Hospital in Brockton, a career that he thrived at. He was a well-known and highly respected Substance Abuse Counselor at Project Rise at the VA Hospital in Brockton for over 34 years. He retired in 2009. Jack was a beloved member of the staff at Project Rise, and his big heart and big personality drew people to him. His laugh was contagious and his never ending drive to help those in need cemented his legacy of love and faithfulness to his country and its Veterans. In addition to his work in the hospital, he also was a longtime Volunteer Firefighter in Raynham.

In 2000, Jack married his love, Evelyn L. (Robbins) Mansir Rapoza. They were blessed with 20 years of dating and over 25 years of marriage. Jack was a resident of Stoughton for over 35 years. His life revolved around his family, especially his two beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed every moment with his family and his friends and enjoyed dining out at area restaurants, especially Boston Tavern and Mediterranean Grill. A car enthusiast who was always quick with a joke, he was a fan of Elvis Presley and also enjoyed dancing.

In addition to his wife Evelyn L. (Robbins) Rapoza of Stoughton, MA, he is also survived by his daughter Cynthia Rizk of Warwick, RI, his step-son John Mansir of Brockton, MA and step-daughter Robin Mansir of Winter Haven, FL. He was the beloved Papa of Alex and Larah Rizk both of Warwick, RI. Jack was predeceased by his parents John S. Rapoza Sr. and Mary C. (Duarte) Rapoza both originally from Portugal and also his siblings, Evelyn Rapoza, Nicholas Rapoza and Marie Rapoza. He is survived by his close friend George Rizk and also survived by Anthony Rapoza and Eric Clory. He was the uncle of 4 nieces and is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will take place at Farley Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
