John W. Parrin, 78, died at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Saturday, July 15 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Cavanaugh) Parrin for 57 years. Born in Berlin, NH, he was educated in Charlestown schools. Mr. Parrin was an U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for General Dynamics in Quincy for 22 years before retiring 20 years ago. Mr. Parrin was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoughton. He enjoyed sailing, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Parrin is survived by his daughters, Linda M. Skeff of CA, Janis E. Parrin, Lisa J. Parrin, Terri-Ann Parrin and Tracy A. Parrin all of Stoughton and Ruth M. O'Brien of Mansfield; a son, John W. Parrin, Jr. of W. Bridgewater; his sisters, Gertrude A. St. Peter of FL, Margaret Lampke and Nancy J. Signette both of NC and his brother, Nathan A. Parrin of Charlestown. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, A. Edward Parrin.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, July 19 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Stoughton.
