John W. McConoghy, 79, died at Florida Hospital in Orlando on Monday, March 8. He was the husband of Jane E. (McDonough) McConoghy and the late Nancy (Powers) McConoghy. Born in Boston, he was educated in Charlestown schools. He was a resident of Canton for 35 years before moving to Davenport, FL nine years ago. Mr. McConoghy was a Private in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed truck driver for over 40 years before retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Beachmont VFW in Revere and the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife Jane, Mr. McConoghy was the father of Catherine McConoghy and Mary Ann Troxler and her husband Eddie all of Fitchburg, Paul McConoghy of Mission Hill, Deborah Crawford of Brockton, Diane Napoli and her husband Dennis of Plainville, Jeanne Sera and Steven Sera and his wife Colleen all of Canton, Kathryn Manning and her husband Dennis of Stoughton, Michael Sera and his wife Kristen of Taunton and the late John W. McConoghy, Jr. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday, March 15 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
