John E. "Jack" Maloney, Retired Lt. Colonel, United States Army, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home in Newark, Delaware. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Maloney. Son of the late Mary and Warren Maloney, he was born and raised in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1982. Since he was a child, Jack had a love for the military and graduated from West Point Military Academy before serving 20 years of Military Service for his country. During those 20 years, Jack earned the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Valorous Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Jack served in Desert Storm and did a Tour of Peacekeeping in Kosovo. He furthered his education by receiving his Master's Degree in Human Resources from Webster University. He also finished multiple military education courses to help further his career in the Army.
Jack was a very proud father and enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He was an avid Boston sports fan who enjoyed playing golf and spending time at the shooting range with his son, Jaeka.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his daughter, Marlowe Woodfin and her husband Brad, his son, John "Jaeka" Maloney and his granddaughter, Charlie. He was the brother of James "JP" Maloney of Brockton and William and Ryan Maloney both of Bridgewater.
Jack was laid to rest on Tuesday, March 27 at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with a 15 gun salute and the playing of Taps.
