John R. LaCasse

John R. LaCasse, 60, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at home on Monday, December 29 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Carolann M. (Schneider) Greenwood LaCasse. Son of Marguerite (Lynch) LaCasse of Plymouth and the late Raymond F. LaCasse, he was born in Boston and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1966. He earned an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Massasoit Community College. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Mr. LaCasse was a firefighter with the Stoughton Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as Captain in 2006. He was a life member of the AMVETS Post 1977 in Stoughton, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge 2130 in Randolph and the American Legion Post 89 in Stoughton. He was also a member of the IAFF Union.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. LaCasse is survived by his children, Nicole P. LaCasse and Ryan J. LaCasse. He was the brother of Lauren LaCasse of Lakeville, Peggy Ann Mahoney of N. Attleboro, Raymond LaCasse, Paul LaCasse and Lisa D'Andrea all of Stoughton. He was the stepfather of Peter Greenwood and his wife Sandra of Carver. He was the nephew of Joan Kane of NH. He was the best friend of Bob Devine of Stoughton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 2 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 3-6 PM. Burial will take place at the VA National Cemetery in Bourne. Due to floral restrictions at cemetery, donations in John's name may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the Ronald McDonald House, 229 Kent St., Brookline, MA 02446.
