John A. "Johnny" Karavetsos, Sr., 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. “Peggy” (Bresnahan) Karavetsos. Son of the late Alexander and Evangelia (Pavlis) Karavetsos, he was born, raised and educated in Boston. John was a resident of Stoughton since 1965. He was a member of the Local 33 Roofer’s Union in Stoughton and worked for Norman Pemberton Roofing in Quincy for 25 years before retiring in 1978. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and trips to Disney World with his wife Peggy.
John is survived by his children, John A. “Jack” Karavetsos, Jr. of Taunton, Diane M. Ford of Bridgewater, Raymond C. Karavetsos of Stoughton, Paula E. Karavetsos and her partner Denise Robinson of Attleboro, Linda C. Karavetsos of Stoughton and Andrea K. Trombley and her husband Dennis of Sterling. He was the brother of Charles Karavetsos and his wife Joyce of Hyde Park and the late Helen Tower and Frank Karavetsos. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, July 21 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in John‘s memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
