John R. "Richie" Greene, 70, died on January 15, 2017 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Sandra (Davis) Greene. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. Mr. Greene was a resident of Taunton for several years, previously living in Stoughton. He worked as a roofer and began his own business, New England Construction Company several years ago. Mr. Greene was a devout born again Christian. He was a fan of the Red Sox, enjoyed playing pool, riding his Harley and was proud to be from Jamaica Plain. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Richie is survived by his children; Robert P. Greene and his wife Kelli of Norfolk, John R. Greene III and his wife Stephanie of Easton, Sherry Ann Cirelli and her husband Jesse of Taunton, Melissa Marie Greene of Wareham, Jonathan R. Greene and Joseph J. Greene both of Stoughton. He was the brother of James Hanlon, Jackie Hanlon, Nancy Mulcahy, Susan Burke and Kerry Greene and the late William Greene. He was the former husband of the late Helen (McNamara) Greene and was also predeceased by his parents John R. Greene (Boston PD Ret.) and Ann M. (Callahan) Greene. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Readings will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 PM with Scripture Readings at 5:30PM. Interment will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
