John R. Gallagher, 82, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth on Friday, March 8. He was the husband of Florence E. (Corcoran) Gallagher. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Boston Trade School, Class of 1948. He was a resident of Stoughton for 48 years. Mr. Gallagher was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a printer in Boston for 20 years before owning a Subway sandwich shop in Bellingham for 23 years. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton. In his free time he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gallagher is survived by his children, Stephen M. Gallagher and his wife Melissa of Newton, Susan G. Allan and her husband Doug of Milford, Janet E. Pflueger and her husband Gene of Medfield and Michael J. Gallagher and his wife Janet of Plymouth. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, March 12 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
