John C. Dees, Jr., a resident of Brockton for over 50 years, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Guardian Center in Brockton. He was 87 years old. Mr. Dees was the loving husband of Estelle J. (MaDan) Dees. Born in Inverness, MS, Mr. Dees was the son of the late John C. Dees and Ozie (Kemp) Dees. He worked for many years as a self-employed backhoe operator. Mr. Dees was a member of the Mallard Decoy Duck Club in Brockton and a life member of the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.
Mr. Dees served in the 621st Quartermaster Depot Company for the United States Army during World War II. He was with the 79th Infantry that landed in Normandy, France and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dees is survived by two children, John C. "Jay" Dees of Stoughton and Steven E. Dees of Wareham. He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth Rexford. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and his siblings: Minnie Lee Cannon of GA, William Dees of MS and Lena Mae Cupstid of CA.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., Stoughton on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
