John W. Cole, 71, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, February 13, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy A. (George) Cole. Born in Boston, son of the late John T. and Maydell (Lincoln) Cole, he was a resident of Roxbury until age 12 before moving to Stoughton. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1953. Mr. Cole was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Courier Driver for Gallery Deliveries in Quincy for over 15 years and previously worked for Central Express in Walpole for 15 years. He retired 2 years ago. An avid sports fan, in his free time, he enjoyed traveling, watching the Red Sox and Patriots and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons Michael P. Cole and his wife Jo-Anne of Stoughton and John T. "Jack" Cole and his wife Amy of Medford. He was the brother of James A. Cole of Stoughton and the late Ann Marie Bunavicz. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Donations in John's name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, 02368. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
