John J. Ciulla

John J. Ciulla, Sr., 84, died at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Sunday, May 18 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary G. (Ruggiero) Ciulla. Born in Boston, he was educated in East Boston schools. He was a resident of Stoughton for 51 years and spent winters in Clearwater, FL for 18 years. Mr. Ciulla worked for Great Atlantic Fish Co. in Boston for 32 years before working for Stop & Shop Headquarters in Boston for several years until retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he was a commercial fisherman for several years. He was a former member of the Sons of Italy in Stoughton. An avid Red Sox fan and gardener, he enjoyed cribbage, playing cards, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ciulla is survived by his children, James J. Ciulla and his wife Crystal of Raynham and John J. Ciulla, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Scituate. He was the grandfather of Alicia, Saundra, James J., Jr., Jeffrey, Carolyn and the late John and the great-grandfather of Grace. He was the brother of Josephine McDuff of Revere and the late Jennie Lochiatto, Jeanette Solazzo, Stephen and Joseph Ciulla. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 21 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in John's memory may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
