John L. Ceruti, 91, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Pauline F. (Govey) Ceruti for 67 years. Born in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mr. Ceruti was a Veteran of the US Army, joining just after World War II and earning the rank of Corporal. Upon his Honorable Discharge, he began working for the US Post Office in Stoughton, a job he held until his retirement over 38 years later in 1984. John was a longtime member of the Sharon Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Ceruti was the father of Janet R. Knab and her husband the late Richard Knab MD of Brockton, Barbara J. Reilly and her husband Ed of Florida, Steven J. Ceruti of Stoughton and Jeffry J. Ceruti and his wife Jeannine of Mansfield. He was the grandfather of Edward Reilly, Jr., Brett Reilly, Jessica Ceruti and Tiffany Ceruti. He was the great grandfather of Jacob, Sarah and Brett Reilly Jr., Anthony Ferreira, Kayden Gomes-Ceruti and Brooke Tracy. He was the brother of the late Virginia Bennett, Everett Ceruti, Genevieve Wallace and Joseph B. Ceruti, Jr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
