Joao D. Rodrigues

Joao D. Rodrigues, 87, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a long period of declining health.  Born in the town of Silveira on the island of Pico in the Azores, he was raised and educated in Pico.  In 1967, he married Eulalia M. Rodrigues, and together they spent over 55 years of marriage and raised 3 beloved children.  They moved to Stoughton in 1986 after previously living in British Columbia, Canada for over 18 years.  He was a longtime employee of Cumberland Farms in Canton, working in the Warehouse for many years and retired at age 65. Joao took pride in his property and enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his vegetable garden.  He was a member of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially Sueca and spending time with his family and friends. 

In addition to his wife Eulalia, he is survived by his children, Fernanda M. Rodrigues and John S. Rodrigues, both of Stoughton and David S. Rodrigues of Attleboro.  He was predeceased by his 5 brothers and sisters.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Per Joao’s wishes, his body was donated to the Harvard Medical School in Boston. 

A Mass in his honor will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton on Saturday Night, April 15, 2023 at 7 PM and also on Monday Night, April 17 at 7PM with relatives and friends invited.
