Joao L. Ribeiro, 52, died peacefully at home Friday, March 20 surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Cidalia M. (Medeiros) Ribeiro. Son of the late Antonio and Maria (Franco) Ribeiro, he was born and educated in Madeira, Portugal. He has resided in Stoughton since 1976. Mr. Ribeiro was a machine operator at IBC Corp. in South Easton for 19 years. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, the outdoors, sports, especially the Benfica soccer club, making people laugh and playing cards. His most cherished time was spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ribeiro is survived by his children, Billy M. Ribeiro and his girlfriend Dianna Anderson and Nina I. Ribeiro and her boyfriend Jay Luis all of Stoughton and his grandson, Dustin Ribeiro Luis. He was the brother of Connie Gonsalves, Manuel Ribeiro, Fatima Viveiros, Jose Antonio Ribeiro, Olivia Ramos, Margarida Spinola, Rita Dias and Sally Pacheco all of Stoughton, Afonso Ribeiro of FL, Emily Bettencourt and Paula Sylvia both of Brockton, Grace Gibbons and Paul Ribeiro both of NH. He was the son-in-law of Maria J. Medeiros of Stoughton and brother-in-law of Emily Lima of RI, Fatima Reis of Brockton and Jorge Medeiros of Cape Cod. He is also survived by 20 nieces, 18 nephews, 9 great-nieces and 8 great-nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, March 24 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
