Joanne M. (Thompson) Martin, 60, died Wednesday, January 19, at the St. Joseph's Manor Nursing Home in Brockton after a long period of failing health. Born in Wayne, WV, she was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. Mrs. Martin was a resident of Brockton for over 30 years. She worked as a Teacher's Aide at the Huntington School in Brockton for many years. She was retired. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association. In her free time, she enjoyed going to the beach, specifically Winthrop Beach, watching old westerns, shopping and spending time with her children and family.
She is survived by her son, Richard C. Martin of NC and her daughter Kristen J. Martin of Roslindale. She was the daughter of Regina (Ruggiero) Thompson of Brockton, formerly of Canton and Stoughton and the late Clyde Thompson. She was the sister of Robert J. "Chuckie" Thompson of WV. Mrs. Martin was the grandmother of Richard C. Martin Jr., Cassandra, Ashley, Joseph and Zachary Martin. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Cyera.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St.(Rt.27), Stoughton on Saturday, January 22 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 4 PM to 7 PM.
