Joan A. McGrath

Joan A. (Condon) McGrath, 79, a longtime resident of Brockton, died at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on Thursday, October 8, 2015. She was the wife of 60 years of Joseph V. McGrath. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Joan was a resident of Brockton for 55 years. She was a cafeteria worker for Brockton Public Schools for 18 years before retiring many years ago. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McGrath is survived by her children, JoEllen Carlson and her husband Ted of Newport, VT, Joseph V. McGrath, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Hanover, Mary White and her husband John of Walpole and Paul C. McGrath and his wife Diane of Stoughton. She was the sister of the late Katherine Smith, Virginia Decot, Paul, Thomas and William "Buddy" Condon and Mary Jacoby. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 15 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or The Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest St., Boston, MA 02135.
