Joan A. "Tootsie" (Larkin) Haggerty, 85, died September 25, 2021, at her home in Easton, after a brief period of failing health. She was the wife of 60 years of the late Donald W. Haggerty. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Boston Schools. She later continued her education and became a Certified Nursing Aide. Mrs. Haggerty was a resident of Easton for over 40 years. She worked at the former Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton for over 20 years, retiring in 1979. She was an avid bingo player and was very active in the set up and operation of bingo at the Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton for several years. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and those that knew her well, knew not to bother her when Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune were on. She had a special love of decorating for Christmas, spending time with her husband on Lido Beach in Longboat Key and, most especially, spending time with her beloved family.
Tootsie is survived by her children; Donna M. Gwynn and her husband Richard Ohrenberger of Attleboro, Debra A. Gaultier and her husband Daniel of Raynham and Donald W. Haggerty, Jr. and his fiancé Cynthia Moore of FL. She was the sister of Linda Breen of Stoughton. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son John and her siblings William and Robert Larkin, Carol Croke and Elaine Daly. She was the beloved "Nana Tootsie" of Justin Gwynn, Mallory Gwynn, Jennifer Guerrero, Danielle Lynburner, Madisen Smith, Kristin Winters, Joshua Ohrenberger, Dawn Ohrenberger, Kennon Moore and Karson Moore. She was the great grandmother of Alyssa Gwynn, Jordan Monteiro, Michael Monteiro, Jayce Despar, Bradley Meglio, Charlie Perkins, Ava and Paige Winters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 4-7 PM.
