Joan B. (Barry) Ellis, 79, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Monday, May 2. She was the wife of 58 years of Donald E. Ellis. Daughter of the late George and Myrle (Varnum) Barry, she was born and raised in South Portland, ME and graduated from South Portland High School, Class of 1950. She also attended Portland Business College. Mrs. Ellis was a resident of Stoughton since 1958. She was a homemaker. She was active with the West Stoughton Civic Association. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ellis was the mother of Laura J. Ellis of Carver and the late Gregory E. Ellis. She was the grandmother of Dana Lloyd and great-grandmother of Chevy Lloyd. She was the sister of Jean Siulinski of S. Portland, ME.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday, May 5 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Joan's memory may be made to Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N. Boston St., Watertown, MA 02472.
