Joan J. Austin
Joan J. Austin, 91, died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Wingate at Needham Nursing Home in Needham, after a period of failing health. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Hyde Park and Milton and was a graduate of Milton Schools. She also attended Boston University. Miss Austin worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority for many years, retiring several years ago. In her free time, she enjoyed exploring historical Boston.
She was the sister of the late William, Albert, Peter and Joseph Austin, Ursula Clancy, Barbara McEntee, Sr. Mary Austin SSND and Sr. Patricia Austin SSND. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held in the Milton Cemetery, 211 Central Ave., Milton on Monday, July 31, at 10 AM. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.
