Jerome B. "Jerry" Cullen, 78, a resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Brighton on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Son of the late Anthony E. and Mary Ellen (Jones) Cullen, he was born and raised in Woburn. Jerry graduated from Woburn High School and UMass-Amherst, where he was a 2-time All American in football and lacrosse. He then earned his Master's Degree from Suffolk University in Boston. He resided in Foxboro for many years before moving to Stoughton in 2009. Jerry was a teacher at Stoughton High School for decades before retiring in 1995. He also owned North Woburn Package for over 30 years. He was Head Coach of the Stoughton High School football team for many years, winning a state title. An avid Cribbage player, he also enjoyed golf and football. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Brenda J. Cullen and her husband Thomas Finn of Bolton and Elizabeth R. Cullen and her husband Martin Lilienthal of Wallingford, CT, as well as his grandsons, Seamus P. Finn and Connor J. Finn. He was the twin Brother of the late Jeanne Cullen-Cronin and the brother of John "Jack" Cullen of Siesta Key, FL, Kathleen "Kay" Pattison of Woburn and the late Honorable Francis P. Cullen, Anthony "Joe" Cullen, Lawrence Cullen and Mary Bruno. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St. (Rte 27), Stoughton on Friday, November 18 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, November 17 from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be made to Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund, Council 200, PO Box 355, Stoughton, MA 02072.
