Jeannette V. (Selden) Silva, 84, died unexpectedly Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Silva. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a longtime resident of Stoughton. She worked a Nursing Assistant for many years at the Ann Vinal Nursing Home and Norfolk Nursing Home both in Stoughton. She retired several years ago. She was a member of the Natick Praying Indian Tribe and was the Grand Squaw Sachem. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her twelve children, Alfred J. Silva, Jr. of NH, Rosita M. Hovey of Norton, Anthony J. Silva, Ricardo V. Silva, Lolita M. Savory and Alberta M. Silva all of Brockton. Juanita M. Perry of Middleboro, Renardo J. Silva of VA, Juan V. Silva of Whitman, Carlos V. Silva of Westboro, Rita M. Gomes and Shawn V. Silva both of Stoughton. She was the sister of Gloria Vega of Framingham and the late John Selden, Louis Selden, Annie Selden, Elizabeth Jones, Mildred McKnight and Eleanor Bowles. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, February 22, at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
