Jean (Halpin) Foley, 89, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late William A. Foley. Born in Milton, she was raised and educated in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. In 1952, she married Bill Foley at Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park, and they began their life together, welcoming 7 children into their home. In 1963, they moved to Stoughton, where they raised their children surrounded by family, friends and their faith. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. After raising her children, she worked for many years at the Stoughton Public Library as a front desk clerk before retiring several years ago. She was a member of "The Club", a group of friends that included Barbara, Dom, Ginny and Dottie, that regularly met to knit, play cards and celebrate their friendship. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her beloved family.
Jean is survived by children; William F. Foley, Vincent G. Foley and his wife Patty, and Jean M. Morgan, all of Stoughton. John M. Foley of E. Taunton. Thomas A. Foley and his wife Pauline of Attleboro. Maryanne Downey of Attleboro. Peter J. Foley and his wife Angela of Bridgewater. She was the sister of Marion McNair of OH and the late Barbara Sullivan. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
