Jean L. Cannata, age 96, a resident of Stoughton for 55 years, passed away on January 9, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Alfonso Cannata. Born in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Eugenie Patterson. Jean attended Norwood High School and Mount Ida College. She had a fulfilling career in the real estate industry for over 60 years. She began her career selling real estate in the 1950’s, and during her many years in the industry was actively involved in several committees and leadership roles. She was a real estate teacher, as well as the Executive Officer of the Greater Brockton / Tri-County Board of REALTORS®, and an Emeritus member of the National Association of REALTORS®. She traveled extensively, visited foreign countries, and enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family in Arkansas. She was also skilled in many crafts such as needlepoint, quilting, knitting and others.
She is survived by her children David Cannata and his wife Deborah of North Attleboro, Linda Cannata of Stoughton, Paula Cannata of North Attleboro and was preceded in death by her son Alfonso Charles Cannata. A grandmother of 6, "Nana Jean" will be greatly missed by Nacole Zeevalk and her husband Marc, Jessica Gorman and her husband Thomas, Traci Cannata, David Cannata, Jr., Anna Cannata and Julie Cannata. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Madelon and Sheridan Gorman, Lilla Zeevalk and Georgiana Cannata.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Norfolk Center for Cancer Care and Hematology (NCCCH) in Brockton, the doctors, and nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital and to Old Colony Hospice.
