Janet C. (Yannalfo) Vuytowecz, 83, a longtime resident of Avon, died peacefully at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston on Monday, May 7, 2018. She was the wife of Charles J. Vuytowecz for 63 years. Daughter of the late Eugene P. and Josephine M. (Schiavoni) Yannalfo, she was born and raised in Haverhill. She was a graduate of St. James High School in Haverhill and attended Bridgewater State College. She was a resident of Avon for 48 years. Janet was a switchboard operator at Old Colony Elderly Services in Brockton for 25 years before retiring in 2005. She also taught nursery school for several years. She enjoyed reading, walking, cooking, playing cards and traveling the world, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her children, Michael Vuytowecz and his wife Martha of Panama, Charles J. Vuytowecz and his wife Pamela of California and Mary-Jo Shilalis of West Bridgewater. She was the grandmother of Jonathan Shilalis, Ryan Shilalis, Katherine Shilalis, Charles Vuytowecz, III, Heather Curry, Jeffrey Vuytowecz and Tina Vuytowecz and the great-grandmother of Charlize Curry, Christian Curry, Jayson Vuytowecz and Krissy Vuytowecz. She was the sister of Joanne Fedorchuk and her husband Richard of Dracut and the late Eugene Yannalfo and his wife Faith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, May 10 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's memory may be made to Children's Hospital, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
