Janet Rice

Janet G. (Gray) Rice, 99, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2012 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home in Bourne where she lived for the past 5 years. Janet was the wife of the late John 'Scotty' Rice. She was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, where she earned her nursing degree. Janet moved to the United States in 1950 and settled in Stoughton. She was a compassionate and gifted nurse at a local Pleasant Street nursing homes for over fifty years. In 1995, she retired and moved to West Wareham where she lived for 12 years before moving to the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home. In her free time, Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The Rice family would like to thank SolAmor Hospice and the staff at Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home for the compassion, love and care shown to their mother.

Janet will be forever missed by her loving daughter Margaret R. Whipple and her husband Wilfred of Wareham, her devoted daughter in law Judith A. Rice of Bridgewater. Mrs. Rice was the cherished grandmother of Cheri Sullivan of Raynham and Tiffany Rice of Norwood. She was the beloved great grandmother of Colin, Benjamin and Alexis Sullivan. She was predeceased by her son John C. 'Soupy' Rice and granddaughter Pauline M. Heyne. Mrs. Rice is also survived by her cousin Georgie Damm of England as well as many relatives throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, June 1 at 7PM. Visiting hours prior to the services from 4-7 PM.
