Jane M. (Spicer) Fortier, 66, died unexpectedly at Worcester Memorial Hospital on Thursday, September 21, 2023 after complications from surgery. She was the wife of the late Kevin J. Fortier. Born at the Chelsea Naval Hospital, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Frances (Moynihan) Spicer. She was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a 1975 graduate of Stoughton High School. She also earned her degree to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Jane was a longtime resident of Franklin, where she raised her family. She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Wrentham Development Center for over 30 years and retired several years ago. She enjoyed ceramics, cross stitch and camping and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. She was a dedicated mother and beloved grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Jane is survived by her two beloved children, Jason A. Fortier and his wife Karla Diaz Fortier of Framingham and Danielle F. Fortier and her husband Christopher Alger of Rhode Island. She was the sister of James Spicer of Brockton and the late Margaret Tarrant. She was the loving Nana of Zachary and Isabella Fortier, Stephanos Kapotas and Matthew Alger. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 4-6 PM with Funeral Prayers at 6 PM. Interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 (https://www.alz.org/).
