James Settlers

James Settlers, Jr., 65, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Saturday, June 14. He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Clark) Settlers. Born in Aiken, SC, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Boston Technical High School, Class of 1960. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 40 years. Mr. Settlers was an Airman First Class with the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War. He was a Senior Tech Specialist and Supervisor at Polaroid in Norwood for 40 years before retiring 3 years ago. He was a member of the South Shore Hogs in Rockland. Mr. Settlers was active in Cub Scouts and coached Stoughton Youth Soccer for 10 years. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed photography. His greatest passion was cooking for and spending time with his family and his dogs.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Settlers is survived by his loving children, Anthony Settlers and his wife Melissa and Jason Settlers and his wife Kristin all of Stoughton and his cherished grandchildren, James, Elizabeth and Drake Settlers. He was the loving son of Mildred E. (Nobles) Settlers of Stoughton and the late James Settlers. He was the brother of Albert Settlers of Boston, Howard Settlers of Brockton, Leonard Settlers of VT and the late David Settlers. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, June 18 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
