James B. Knitter, 65, died unexpectedly, Friday, February 20. He was the husband of Armanda M. (Avelar) Knitter. Born in Orange, NJ, he was raised in Westwood and was a graduate of Westwood Schools. He was also a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. Mr. Knitter was a resident of Easton for over 30 years before moving to Stoughton four years ago. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Knitter worked as a Senior Staff Engineer for Datel in Mansfield for over 30 years, before retiring 4 years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling and fine dining.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother in law Maria Avelar of Stoughton and his step-children, Neal W. Mello of PA, Thomas Mello of NY and Janice M. Hom of CA. Jim was fortunate to have a loving and caring extended family, including Nick Tagaris and Jody Tagaris of FL, Jim Zarros and Nick Zarros both of Easton and his longtime friend and casino partner John Skourlas of Randolph. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
